Damiani is taking part in the 75th Venice International Film Festival, from 29 August to 8 September 2018, as a partner of the Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo, the entertainment foundation dedicated to publicizing, promoting and enhancing cinema culture in Italy.
The High-end Jewelry brand, renowned the world over for its outstanding creations, has always enjoyed a close link with the film world: Sharon Stone, Tilda Swinton, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Brad Pitt, not to mention the quintessentially Italian Isabella Rossellini and Sophia Loren, are just some of the icons who have chosen Damiani to mark their most important milestones. In addition, during the Film Festival, the Robert Bresson Award, a jeweled sculpture created by Damiani and Venini will be presented to director Liliana Cavani.
To mark the occasion of the Venice Film Festival, the Maison will be treating jewelry enthusiasts from all over the world to a glimpse of the evocative creations from its Animalia collection: spiders, butterflies, glittering, precious geckos, owls, monkeys, parrots, spiders and dragonflies are ready to celebrate the beauty, creativity and excellence of contemporary cinema.
Mysterious, legendary, rare and enchanting like a fairy-tale, the mythical stars of the Animalia collection are handmade by Damiani’s Master goldsmiths in Valenza. They use a sophisticated artisanal technique to work the finest materials and most precious gemstones, breathing life into these evocative designs: rings with moving embellishments; brooches that turn into stylish pendants; jeweled watches with sophisticated dials that embellish the galuchat leather bracelets in vibrant hues. Their special technique, dubbed “apparent chaos”, creates various shapes by setting stones of varying sizes, in an ingenious colour palette: the result is a bewitchingly harmonious effect.
This fanciful, enchanting menagerie is now joined by the latest fine creations from the Maison: three new butterfly rings celebrate female beauty and elegance. The fancy diamond nestled in the center of the jewel represents the head of the butterfly, surrounded by a cascade of precious stones that outline the wings with extraordinary three-dimensionality. Every precious stone is skillfully selected from the finest gems, and set by hand to create unique one-off pieces.
The creations come in three magical hues, inspired by the delicate nuances of the fancy diamonds. For the first, a white gold setting encloses a 2.23-carat purplish pink oval fancy, which is set off by sapphires in deep shades of blue for the ethereal wings. In the second, a 2.52-carat round-cornered rectangular fancy blue is set on pink gold and completed by a harmonious alternation of white and brown diamonds that evoke the ephemeral beauty of a butterfly in flight. The third piece features a 3.15-carat intense yellowish green cushion fancy, paired with white and yellow diamonds whose radiance is enhanced by yellow gold.
The sequence of stones creates a symphony of colour, outlining the butterfly’s slender silhouette that embraces the fancy diamond in true splendor. In addition, a refined and ingenious mechanism reproduces the beating of the butterfly’s wings.
